Answer to Question 1

Answer: Effective managers identify positive energizers and then make certain that networks of people are formed who associate with these energizers. Iacocca identified 300 people who got the vision of the company and gave them the assignment to go out and share the vision.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Iacocca institutionalizes the vision by assigning each of the 300 top managers to help 10 subordinates understand and become committed to the vision. This gives them the opportunity to teach (solidifying their own understanding and beliefs) as well as to spread the vision throughout the rest of the company. He could ask this of them because he was able to look around the room and say Ten of you are my proteges.
