Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

Authoritative teachers would demonstrate confidence, establish limits, provide a rationale for classroom rules, show warmth and affection, encourage children to set standards, and give reasons why these are important. Authoritative teachers would demonstrate respect for children. Children can learn from their mistakes in this type of environment. The authoritative approach would likely produce responsible behavior in children and the development of self-discipline.

Authoritarian teachers would make demands and assert power, disregard the child's view, lack warmth and sincerity, and motivate children to behave out of fear. While children of authoritarian teachers would adhere to the teacher's rules and directions, they would do so largely out of fear and not out of a desire to learn and attain the teacher's approval.

Permissive teachers would be disorganized, inconsistent, and appear to lack confidence. They would assign homework but fail to grade it. Or they would grade assignments, but not return them for many days. They would apply classroom rules sometimes but not others. They would also make few demands on students. Students of permissive teachers would likely be less conscientious about completing tasks, and their intellectual skills would probably be less well developed than those of the students of authoritative teachers.
