The founder of an organization has a substantial influence on the organization's initial culture because of his or her personal values and beliefs. Founders set the scene for the later development of culture because they not only establish the new organization's values but also hire its first members. Presumably, the people selected by the founder have values and interests similar to those of the founder. Over time, members buy into the founder's vision and perpetuate the founder's values in the organization.
