Appreciative inquiry consists of four steps, and although introduced in the organizational context, it can be applied for personal improvement that can make a better person, a better teammate, a better employee, and so on. Students should list each step and describe how they would accomplish each step. The four steps of appreciative inquiry are:
1. Appreciate you for you and identify what your purpose is
2. Envision a better future and what your possibilities might be
3. Design your ideal self
4. Sustain yourself; learn and adjust to build on your strengths and accomplish your future aspirations
