In about 200 words, critically evaluate the argument that such laws are necessary to protect local retailers from unfair price competition by large online retailers. A Web server computer runs software called Web server software. Web server software receives requests from many different Web clients and responds by sending files back to those Web client computers. Each Web client computers Web client software renders those files into a Web page. Thus, the purpose of a Web server is to respond to requests for Web pages from Web clients.

Answer to Question 2

A few states have enacted laws that require online retailers to collect and remit sales taxes on sales they make in their states, even though the online retailers do not have nexus with the state. Many more states have proposed or are considering such laws. These statutes are often called Amazon laws because they are directed at large online retailers, such as Amazon.com.
The idea behind these laws is that online retailers have an unfair pricing advantage over local stores because they are not required to collect sales tax. The laws are designed to remove the unfair advantage and collect sales tax revenue, which many states need to balance their budgets. One could argue however that online sales incur a shipping charge that is not added at brick and mortar stores.
