Answer to Question 1

With Windows authentication the user is authenticated by logging into Windows. The Windows login is mapped to a SQL Server login. If there are users who don't have a Windows login, SQL Server can enable mixed logins. With mixed logins a user can login directly to the SQL Server by providing a username and password.

Answer to Question 2

The first command grants permission to execute a stored procedure to the StudentRole. The second command creates a new user based on the student login. The final command executes a system stored procedure that adds the new user to the role.
