What are some of the drawbacks of using a spreadsheet like Excel for a database?

Answer to Question 1

Spreadsheets often store redundant data, so it is easy for data to get inconsistent. Also, while most spreadsheets have some ability to sort and select data, it is difficult to compare different pieces of data to each other.
