Whereas patterns consist of problem-solution pairs, an anti-pattern is a pair of two solutions: the first solution  the one that leads to failure  is called the problematic solution; the second is referred to as the refactored solution. The refactored solution is a commonly occurring method in which the anti-pattern can be resolved and reengineered to prevent failure and increase the chances of success.
