1. Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) provide high-speed connection between devices that are up to 30 feet apart.
2. Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) provide access to corporate computers in office buildings, retail stores or hospitals, or access to Internet hotspots where people congregate.
3. Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (WMANs) provide connections in cities and campuses at distances up to 30 miles.
4. Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWANs) provide broadband wireless connections over thousands of miles.
