Answer to Question 1

A
The primary goal of a nontraditional model of population-based nursing practice is to contain or
reduce costs. The secondary goal is to improve the quality of care.

Answer to Question 2

D
Some techniques that may help to facilitate communication among multicultural workers include
avoiding the use of slang terms; recognizing that your coworker probably has an educational
background in nursing that is different from yours; providing your coworker with resources such as
written protocols and procedures to reinforce your verbal communication. When providing
constructive criticism you should try to use I statements instead of you statements. It is also
important to remember to praise your coworker's competency in technical skills to inspire
self-confidence.
