The first master's degree in nursing informatics was offered by the University of Maryland in 1989 . In 1992, that same university followed with the first doctoral program in nursing infor-matics. Now, programs in nursing informatics can be found throughout the United States. These programs offer a variety of educational options, including master's degrees, post-master's certif-icates, and doctoral degrees.
