Answer to Question 1

4
Explanation: 1. Staying available the whole time will make it difficult for the change agent to keep up the
energy it will take to make the change more successful. Being flexible but persistent, staying
out of the details, and supporting the resisters are correct statements about roles or attitudes
about the change process.

Answer to Question 2

Rationale 1: Limiting motivation to one theory will narrow the manager's influence. Different workers are motivated in different ways.
Rationale 2: It is important for the manager to be aware of many theories. Using only two theories narrows the manager's ability to be influential.
Rationale 3: The manager will encounter workers who are motivated in a variety of ways. The manager should learn about as many theories as possible and combine them to suit the specific population of the unit.
Rationale 4: There is a significant amount of research that supports the use of these theories in the real world.
