Question 2

Teachers can't understand why Student A is doing very poorly in class. They referred the student to the psychologist so that an intelligence or aptitude assessment could be conducted. Surprisingly the test results revealed that the student had an above average aptitude for learning. This puzzled the teachers even more. What could you say to help explain this phenomenon?

Although intelligence tests are related to academic success, this does not determine if students will be successful. Students can be called underachievers meaning they have a high aptitude but do poorly in classes.
