Learn and sensitize communication to the cultural norms, customs, and traditions of the other culture. Be aware of, and implement, the desired leadership behaviors of the culture. Maintain open, sensitive, and respectful views of differences in other cultures' communication styles. Attempt to assert similar behaviors that are acceptable within the culture one is working with.

Answer to Question 2

The premises describe generally unconscious or subconscious emotions, thoughts, feelings, and actions that occur as we interact with the others and the world around us. While not necessarily rooted in the workplace or leadership research, the premises help describe why some leaders or followers may react, often at a subconscious level. These premises are concepts that generally are not discussed (or not early on) in leadership research and writing but offer a practical way of looking at how organizations really function.
