Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Descriptive studies and correlational studies often require very large samples. In these studies multiple variables may be examined, and extraneous variables are likely to affect subjects' responses to the variables under study.
Because of the requirements of an experimental study, its sample size is likely to be smaller than a correlational or descriptive study.
Grounded theory is a type of qualitative research and likely to have a relatively small sample size.
Phenomenology is a type of qualitative research and likely to have a relatively small sample size.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A
Convenience samples are inexpensive, accessible, and usually require less time to acquire than other types of samples.
Convenience sampling does not provide increased internal validity and control.
There is a higher risk of sampling bias with convenience samples.
There is little assurance of the sample being representative. The researcher just needs to control for as much as possible in spite of the convenience sample.
