Students may select to discuss any three of the following seven listed rights:
(1) Therapeutic environment: A therapeutic environment is a safe environment that is humane and responsive to the individual.
(2) Services whose overriding goal is personal welfare: This right address the issue of the behavior targeted for change should be beneficial to the student.
(3) Treatment by competent behavior analyst includes continued training, observation, and evaluation of the behavior analyst to ensure appropriate use of behavioral principles.
(4) Programs that teach functional skills: Depending on student, skills targeted for instruction should include those that are most relevant to the individual. It should be assumed, for the majority of students, that they will fully participate in the community around them.
(5) Behavioral assessment and ongoing evaluation: Goals and objectives should be derived from careful observation under various conditions.
(6) Most effective treatment procedures available: Treatment procedures selected should demonstrate proven effectiveness in changing similar behaviors in similar students.
(7) Accountability: Interventions should be published so that they can be evaluated.
