Answer to Question 1

Steady state strategy requires repeatedly exposing a participant to a given condition while trying to eliminate or control extraneous influence on the behavior and obtaining a stable pattern of responding before introducing the new condition.

Answer to Question 2

Find the sources of variability and attempt to control those variables to better understand behavior. Identify new experimental questions about the nature of behavior.
