Ontogeny describes how selection by consequences operates during the lifetime of an individual organism and is considered a conceptual parallel to Darwin's natural selection

Similarity both the operations, positive and negative reinforcement share the same effect on behavior, which is an increase. A difference between the operations positive and negative reinforcement is in the type of stimulus change that accompanies each operation
