Answer to Question 1

An ideal response will:
1, Describe the rights guaranteed by the ADA to Americans with mental and physical disabilities, which include access to public facilities, employment, and communications services.
2, Describe the infrastructure changes that must be made to accommodate disabled Americans. For example, workplaces and government buildings must be made accessible to those who use a wheelchair.
3, Explain how both the Supreme Court and Congress have worked to push back against the 2001 decision by allowing citizens with disabilities to sue states for money damages that fail to make their courts accessible and the 2008 amendments extending antidiscrimination protections to a wider range of public and private accommodations, respectively.
