Answer d

Answer to Question 2

ANS: The Tikuna community in western Brazil (close to the border with Colombia and Peru) has become an important link in drug trafficking. Some young indigenous Tikuna men, working as drug mules, use their knowledge of the rivers and dense rain forest to carry cocaine into Brazils substantial drug market. While facing unemployment, disease, poor health care, substance abuse, and the destruction of their natural environment, contemporary Tikunas are struggling to keep some vestiges of their traditional culture (Barrionuevo 2008).
