These are individuals who willingly chose to come to the United States as immigrants, while the involuntary minority includes individuals brought against their will, such as slaves.

This is the argument that even one drop of ancestry from a particular group will cause the individual to be labeled as such. It was used in the United States and Haiti during certain historical periods.
