2. She found it necessary to provide care for orphans created by poaching.
3. The logging industry is an immediate threat to the species and Galdikas has lobbied for rainforest preservation through the World Bank and elsewhere.
4. Her data collection is used to establish how much territory is needed to support a viable orangutan population and facilitate protection of the environment.
