Answer to Question 1

A, B, C, D
Feedback:
Interventions to improve tissue perfusion in the older patient include frequent position changes, maintaining body warmth, encouraging physical activity, and preventing sources of pressure on the body. Placing limits on activity and emphasizing rest are unlikely to improve tissue perfusion.

Answer to Question 2

D
Feedback:
Elastic stockings and anticoagulants are commonly used in both the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism. Nitroglycerine is not a relevant therapy and both mobilization and massage would likely be contraindicated due to the risk of dislodging a clot. Bed rest will be prescribed until fear of the clot dislodging has passed. Ice is not usually prescribed as treatment for a venous thrombosis.
