Answer to Question 1

D
In preparation for the return of the surgical patient, the patient's bed should be in the highest position to be level with the surgical gurney and should have the side rail down on the receiving side, with the opposite side rail up to prevent the patient from falling out of bed during transfer.

Answer to Question 2

B
Feedback:
Oxygen therapy should be used with prudence to prevent the effects of carbon dioxide narcosis. It is not a treatment of last resort but neither should it be used with all patients at risk for lung disease or who have lung disease. It is possible, and indeed common, to use both oxygen and medications in the treatment of respiratory illnesses.
