Answer to Question 1

B
APTT (response B) evaluates all clotting factors by measuring the time needed to form a clot. It is more sensitive than PTT. APTT is used for monitoring anticoagulation by heparin. If laboratory values are below the therapeutic range (response D), clotting occurs too quickly, meaning that anticoagulation therapy has been unsuccessful.

Answer to Question 2

B
Responses A, C, and D all are routine baseline tests. Response B, a drug screen, is a diagnostic tool to evaluate the drugs that may be used or to evaluate symptoms.
