Why is it important for students with learning challenges to participate in spreadsheet projects?
 
  a. Basic skills in reading and computation must be mastered before higher order thinkingskills can be developed. Spreadsheet projects assist in the development of these basicskills.
 b. Standards based learning has changed the emphasis from merely obtaining correctanswers to explaining how the process of obtaining answers works. Spreadsheets areamong the technology options used to teach this process.
 c. Spreadsheet projects can be use to by-pass developing the more difficult skills of planningand extending concepts, thus allowing students with learning challenges to focus on therote skills for which there are deficiencies.
