In general, a teacher's grading system should emphasize in varying proportions the types of work and performance you believe are most important. In grading an expert teacher remembers that words should equal actions if conceptual understanding is stressed in class it should be stressed on assessments. Grades should be computed in a manner that reflects the skills taught. Smooth, consistent, and fair grading systems are essential to maintain student enthusiasm and motivation and to ensure that grades reflect student learning accurately.
