- both types of research reflect individual researcher's points of view. They examine a great diversity of data types - huge amounts of qualitative data. They use grounded theory - ideas emerge during data collection and analysis in a process of grounded theory. They make limited generalizations - as a researcher gains greater knowledge about a particular place and time, it may be difficult to make broad
