Answer to Question 1

True

Answer to Question 2

Both mechanical weathering and chemical weather include several processes that alter surface and near-surface rocks and minerals. Interactions of Earth materials with the hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere bring about changes as the rocks and minerals break down.

Mechanical weathering takes place when physical forces break Earth materials into smaller pieces that retain the composition of the parent material.

Chemical weathering decomposes rocks and minerals by chemical alteration of the parent material. In contrast to mechanical weathering, chemical weathering changes the composition of weathered materials.
