In the recent photograph, there is no water, just a dry river bed. The west branch of
the Santa Cruz River does not exist and there are signifi cantly fewer trees and other
vegetation along the river. Other changes include streets running on the bank of
what was the West branch of the Santa Cruz River and substantial development in the
surrounding area.
