Answer to Question 1

Three factors that contribute to storm surge are strong winds, low pressure, and high
waves.

Answer to Question 2

In the Northern Hemisphere, the strongest winds are usually found on the right side of
the tropical cyclone, relative to the direction of travel. This is where the rotating winds
of the cyclone add to the preexisting global winds. (In the Southern Hemisphere, the
strongest winds are on the left side.)
