Answer to Question 1

A semidiurnal tidal pattern exhibits two high tides and two low tides each tidal day, with the two highs about the same height and the two lows about the same height. A mixed tidal pattern is similar to a semidiurnal pattern except that it is characterized by a large inequality in high-water heights, low-water heights, or both. In this case, there are usually two high and two low tides each day, with high tides of different heights and low tide of different heights.

Answer to Question 2

Tidal currents that advance into the coastal zone as the tide rises are called flood currents. As the tide falls, seaward-moving water generates ebb currents.
