Answer to Question 1

The gravitational forces between the Earth and the Moon cause tides. Because the Moon's gravitational pull on Earth is slightly greater on the near side of Earth than on the far side, the tidal bulge is slightly greater on the near side, causing a slightly higher tide.

Answer to Question 2

Estuaries are drowned river mouths associated with submergent coasts. They form where the sea floods lower reaches of river valleys flowing into the ocean.
