Information technology may offer a way for South Asia to achieve economic and social development. However, growth and development will, certainly in the short term, be unevenly distributedboth in terms of geography and of groups affected. To compensate for the unevenness of growth, it is imperative that governments develop adequate infrastructureroads, railways, and so forthso that all areas may benefit.
