Answer to Question 1

Water scarcity refers to areas of the world where water shortages are common. As population increases, water problems will become even more acute. Compounding this problem is the fact that more than 70 of the world's water is diverted for agriculture. Clean water is unavailable for millions on the planet. Very high death rates exist in areas where people use polluted water for their daily needs. This toll is especially high for infants and children. Water access may not be difficult for people only because of water scarcity. Instead, many do not have access to water because they must travel long distances to do so or because the water is too costly (privatization has made affordable water more of a problem).

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
