Answer to Question 1

Tone refers to the attitude (formal, informal, serious, humorous, and so
forth) that writers take toward their subjects. The robbery essay is informal
but serious.

Answer to Question 2

Time refers to the period when the action or events of the composition
took place. The robbery essay is written in the past tense.
