Identify the author's purpose in the following passage: When Hurricane Wilma hit South Florida, approximately 6 million people were left without power. Without electricity, most gas stations were closed since they couldn't pump gas. Six-hour waits were common. Traffic was also a problem with traffic lights damaged across Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Communication was difficult with landlines damaged and cell towers had no power or were overloaded.
