Briefly explain why the groundwater table does not rise fastest in areas of low elevation. What will be an ideal response?

How does water move in the capillary fringe? What will be an ideal response?

Answer to Question 1

Groundwater moves from high pressure to low. When traveling downslope to areas of low elevation,
most of the water travels by curving paths and rises toward the water table from below.



Answer to Question 2

Water moves upward in this region because of surface tension.
