Answer to Question 1

If you put one foot on each side of the fault, notice which side is moving toward your foot and which
is moving away. If one side is moving toward your right foot, it is a right-lateral strike-slip fault. If one
side is moving toward your left foot, it is a left-lateral strike-slip fault. Turn around so that you're
facing the other way to be sure the results are the same.

Answer to Question 2

In a dome, all of the folded strata dip outward from a central point (as opposed to outward from a line
as in an anticline), and the oldest exposed rocks are at the center of the fold. In contrast, a basin has all
strata dipping inward toward a central point, and the youngest exposed rocks are at the fold's center.
