Answer to Question 1

Paper and paperboard can be remade into pulp and reprocessed into recycled paper, cardboard, and other paper products; finely ground and sold as cellulose insulation; or shredded and composted.
Most glass that is recycled is crushed, remelted, and made into new containers; a smaller amount is used in fiberglass or glasphalt' for highway construction.
Some forms of plastic can be remelted and fabricated into carpet fiber, outdoor wearing apparel, irrigation drainage tiles, building materials, and sheet plastic.
Metals can be remelted and refabricated. Making aluminum from scrap aluminum saves up to 90 of the energy required to make aluminum from virgin ore. National recycling of aluminum saves energy, creates jobs, and reduces the trade deficit.
Yard wastes can be composted to produce a humus soil conditioner.

Answer to Question 2

The impact from a golf course could include contamination from nitrates and phosphates (fertilizers), pesticides, and sediments from erosion. Increased flow of sediments into the reservoir could influence the taste, color, and odor of the drinking water. The nitrates and phosphates could increase the growth of algae and other organisms, lowering the level of dissolved oxygen in the reservoir. Any fish or benthic organisms in the reservoir would be adversely impacted. The pesticides could include hormonally active agents or other compounds that are related to adverse human impacts.

Though Candida and Aspergillus species are the most common fungal pathogens causing invasive fungal disease in the immunocompromised, infections due to previously uncommon hyaline and dematiaceous filamentous fungi are occurring more often today. Rare fungal infections, once accurately diagnosed, may require surgical debridement, immunotherapy, and newer antifungals used singly or in combination with older antifungals, on a case-by-case basis.
