Answer to Question 2

Answer: The eruption was massive enough to eject large quantities of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, which created aerosols of sulfuric acid that reflected solar radiation back into space. This lowered global temperatures significantly, which resulted in the Year Without a Summer in 1816-1817. As a result of crop failure, there was widespread famine in Europe.
