Answer: Dry air descends to the surface, the air is too cold to hold moisture, mountains block moist air from oceans, or moist ocean air moves away from land.

Answer: The Coriolis effect shifts moving objects to the right of their initial path in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere.
