  b. 2 and 3 only
  c. 3 only
  d. 1, 2, and 3

Question 2

When visiting a home care patient receiving nasal O2 at 2 L/min through an O2 concentrator, you measure the FiO2 of the outlet gas as 0.63. Which of the following best explains this finding?

Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
Because both concentrators and personal liquid O2 systems operate at low pressures, they cannot be used to drive equipment needing 50 psi, such as pneumatically powered ventilators and large-volume jet nebulizers.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
If the concentration is less than the manufacturer's specification at the given flow, the pellet can-isters are probably exhausted and should be replaced.
