Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Unlike conventional CPAP, BiPAP is titrated by increasing inspiratory positive airway pressure (IPAP) and expiratory positive airway pressure (EPAP) separately in response to apnea, hypop-nea, and desaturation.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
CPAP therapy is believed to work by splinting the upper airway open, thus raising the intralu-minal pressure of the upper airway above a critical transmural pressure of the pharynx and hypo-pharynx that is associated with airway closure.
