Answer to Question 1

A
The most commonly used tests to evaluate the patient's respiratory muscle strength at the bedside are maximum inspiratory pressure (MIP) and maximum expiratory pressure (MEP), forced vital capacity (FVC), and maximum voluntary ventilation (MVV).

Answer to Question 2

C
Alveolar consolidation would cause decreased lung volume resulting in a decreased FRC. Opaque lung fields would appear on the chest radiograph. Bronchial breath sounds would be expected with alveolar consolidation.
