Discuss with the nurse any significant activity restrictions. You should dangle the person from the bed, apply a gait belt, wear nonslip shoes, and use a walker. Having another person walk behind you and the person with a wheelchair may help ensure safety; if the person becomes tired, he or she can sit down immediately.
