Answer to Question 1

If a nursing assistant observes an emergency, he should assess
the problem, call or send for help, remain calm while waiting for
help, know his limitations, and assist medical personnel after
help arrives. It may be necessary to apply the automatic external
defibrillator (AED) pads.

Answer to Question 2

Things to consider when using restraints are: restraints may only
be used with the written order of a physician, apply restraints
only when directed to by a licensed nurse, avoid the need for
restraints, follow federal guidelines, apply restraints properly,
and provide for the patient's basic needs.
