The term 'pancytopenia' is used to describe the condition. Leukopenia is a decrease in leukocytes, or WBCs. Thrombocytopenia is a decrease in platelets, which are also called thrombocytes. Granulocytopenia is caused by a decrease in the number of neutrophils.
