The Broviac is small and can only be used for intravenous infusions. The Hickman may have one, two, or three lumens. It is large enough to draw blood, as well as to infuse fluids. Another type, the double-lumen catheter, may be used to deliver nutrients, such as TPN or CPN, through a smaller lumen.
