The nurse should work from the top to the bottom of the MAR when setting up medications to prevent omitting any medication. The nurse should also set up medications for one client at a time, compare each medication label with the MAR to make sure they are identical, read the medication package at least three times, bring scissors to the bedside to open unit doses, and save opening unit doses until ready to give the medicine.
